According to the Government of Sergipe, Sergipe is one of the twenty-seven states in the country that is located in South America. It is located in the Northeast of Brazil.

It borders the Atlantic Ocean to the east and borders the states of Bahia, to the west and south, and the small state of Alagoas, to the north, from which it is separated by the imposing São Francisco River.
