It takes its name due to the large quantity of a species of crustacean, called goré or popularly known by the local community as “Flame tide”.

The males of the species have a disproportionate paw, and when the tide is low, they are fighting over territory, moving this disproportionate paw to the body, giving the impression that the tide is coming back. Another attraction apart, is the Peixe-Boi, a species threatened with extinction and which has its only refuge in the estuary of the Vaza-Barris river and Praia do Saco (Estância SE).

On weekends, Crôa attracts visitors in search of leisure and peace. It is 20 km from the Orla de Atalaia hotel chain, following the Inácio Barbosa highway (formerly Joé Sarney).

Arriving at Orlinha Por do Sol do Mosqueiro, in a 15 to 20 minute journey by catamaran or motorboat, the crossing already gives a sample of the beauties that the visitor will find, native mangroves, small river islands and preserved vegetation, contrasting with the beautiful mansions built by the river.

In Crôa there are several huts and a floating bar that serves the visitors. The interesting thing is to arrive at low tide and only go out at high tide. When disembarking the visitor can go for a walk, bathe in the calm and warm waters, get to know the crustaceans and seafood (especially the GORÉ) in addition to the mangrove and enjoy the delights that the floating bar serves, the popular crab, pastries, broths, etc.

After enjoying the delicacies of Croa, the boat goes to the island of lovers, on the way the visitor is enchanted by the beauty of the mangroves, sporadically the dolphins give a show apart and rarely the surprising encounter of the manatee.

The island of lovers forms the meeting of the Vaza-Barris river with the Atlantic ocean and has this name due to a couple of lovers who once upon reaching the island forgot to properly tie their canoe and with the movements of the tides the boat was leaving isolated for two days being rescued by fishermen, since then the great sandbar has been called ILHA DOS NAMORADOS.

In this place the visitor can bathe with tranquility, enjoy hammocks in the water to relax, tents to protect himself from the sun, volleyball courts, kids space and etc.
